His Excellency Yahya bin Saud Al Sulaimi, Oman's Minister of Education, officially opened the AMIDEAST office in Muscat on June 10.  Located in Qurum, the office features an EducationUSA center and offers a variety of services including administration of standardized tests such as the TOEFL, test preparation and English language courses, short-and long-term scholarship and exchange programs, and alumni activities.

Project Management Professional (PMP®) Course and Exam Preparation

Learn the most effective methods of delivering projects within cost, schedule and resource constraints
March 28 - April 2, 2009

Course Description

This intensive and hands-on course gives you the skills to ensure your projects are completed on time and on budget while giving your client the product they expect. Professionals will gain a strong working knowledge of project management and be able to apply it immediately to effectively manage projects through the use of exercises, templates, and industry-specific case studies provided in the class.  The course covers the nine knowledge areas defined in the Project Management Institute’s (PMI) Project Management Framework. This includes understanding:

  • Project Communications Management
  • Project Human Resources Management
  • Project Risk Management
  • Project Procurement Management
  • Project Integration Management
  • Project Scope Management
  • Project Time Management
  • Project Cost Management
  • Project Quality Management

Course Objectives

  • Identify client expectations and needs
  • Pre-plan and initiate a project
  • Develop a work breakdown structure for a project and use it to build an accurate schedule
  • Be able to monitor, control, and close projects
  • Identify the human resources required and develop roles and responsibilities.
  • Perform a thorough risk assessment
  • Define and manage quality
  • Communicate with clients and other stakeholders
  • Negotiate and manage contracts

Timing

The  32-hour course is scheduled as follows:

  • Saturday, March 28 – Tuesday, March 31, 2009:  5:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.  (16 hours)
  • Wednesday, April 1, and Thursday, April 2, 2009: 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.  (16 hours)

Location

The course will take place at AMIDEAST, located at 11 Fahoud Street, near Qurum Park.

Instructor

Matt Jabour is PMP-certified by the Project Management Institute in the U.S. and has an MBA from the University of Phoenix and a B.Sc. from the University of North Florida.  He is an experienced business consultant, trainer and coach, and has extensive project management experience, including three years at Sun Microsystems as Senior Program Manager where he managed critical projects for large accounts such as MetLife and GM, and as a PMO Director for Computer Associates, monitoring the delivery of about 65 concurrent projects in Canada and the northern U.S.
