The affirmative action provisions of the
Vietnam Era Veterans' Readjustment
Assistance Act of 1974 (VEVRAA) prohibits job discrimination and requires
federal contractors and subcontractors to take affirmative action to employ and
advance in employment qualified Vietnam era veterans, special disabled
veterans, recently separated veterans, and veterans who served on active duty
during a war on in a campaign or expedition for which a campaign badge has been
authorized. This law is enforced by the Veterans' Employment
and Training Service (VETS).
Military reservists and National Guard members called to active
duty have rights and responsibilities under the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights
Act (USERRA).

Federal Contractor
Compliance Program Every contractor or subcontractor with a covered
contract of $25,000 or more with the federal government must take affirmative
action to hire and promote qualified special disabled veterans, veterans of the
Vietnam era, recently separated and any other veterans who served on active
duty during a war or in a campaign or expedition for which a campaign badge has
been authorized.
Office of Federal Contract Compliance
Programs (OFCCP) Monitors contractor compliance with the
nondiscrimination and affirmative action provisions of the Vietnam Era
Veterans' Readjustment Assistance Act of 1974 (VEVRAA).
Veterans' Employment and Training Service
(VETS) Promotes the economic security of America's veterans through
programs and activities designed to minimize unemployment and underemployment
among veterans with service connected disabilities and other targeted veterans
groups, and by assisting programs and activities designed to maximize the
employment and training opportunities to all veterans.
The Uniformed Services Employment
and Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA) Advisor Understand veterans'
employee eligibility and job entitlements, employer obligations, benefits, and
remedies under the Act.
Veterans' Preference Advisor
Veterans can examine the preferences for which they might be entitled with
regard to federal jobs.
VETS 100 Federal
contractors and subcontractors are required to complete this annual report
showing the numbers of special disabled veterans, veterans of the Vietnam era,
and any other protected veterans hired or employed during the reporting
period.
