This year's conference will explore practical, current examples of successful outreach programs and projects on nonpoint source pollution, stormwater pollution, watershed protection and promoting sustainable behavior changes in challenging economic times.
Reaching Our Audiences with Outcome-Based Outreach:
- Developing the education/outreach component of watershed-based plans and permits
- Case studies for segmenting and reaching critical target audiences (e.g., homeowners, lawn and landscape professionals, restaurant workers, municipal staff, low income, minority, decision makers)
- Linking nonpoint source and stormwater messages with emerging issues, such as climate change
- Survey design and standardization
- Case studies of using mass media successfully
Evaluating Impact of Outreach Efforts:
- Measuring the impact of an outreach campaign
- Evaluating social marketing campaigns
- Evaluating on a shoestring
Promoting Green Development:
- Using outreach to promote sustainable stormwater management (i.e., low impact development, better site design, natural resource-based planning, and green infrastructure)
- Using ordinances and incentives to increase adoption of sustainable stormwater management practices
Using Technology for Outreach:
- Emerging Web technologies for nonpoint source and stormwater outreach (e.g., mash-ups, social networking, professional learning communities, blogs, podcasts, widgets, wikis, etc.)
- Measuring the effectiveness of using new media and technologies
- Making the most of our Web sites
