Ambassador H. Allen Holmes, the United States assistant
secretary of Defense for Special Operations/Low-Intensity
Conflict, and American Joint Chiefs of Staff representatives are
visiting Israel this week as the guests of the Ministry of
Defense.
Ambassador Holmes is in Israel for talks with his
Israeli colleagues on the important issues of counter-terrorism
cooperation and force protection. Department of Defense
discussions with Israel in this area are part of President
Clinton's commitment to assist and aid Israel in the fight
against terrorism.
Members of Ambassador Holmes' delegation are also
studying Israeli force protection capabilities in an effort to
take advantage of Israel's extensive experience and expertise in
this area.
