Mortgage insurance for one- to four-family homes (section 203 (b)) - FHA mortgage insurance encourages lenders to make loans to otherwise
creditworthy borrowers and projects that might not be able to meet conventional underwriting requirements, by
protecting the lender against loan default on mortgages for properties that meet certain minimum
requirements--including manufactured homes, single-family and multifamily properties, and some health-
related facilities. |
OCC Adopts Flood Insurance Regulation - The OCC is issuing its flood
insurance rule jointly with the Federal Reserve Board, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, the Office of
Thrift Supervision, the Farm Credit Administration and
the National Credit Union Administration. All six agencies will issue uniform rules implementing the statutory
flood insurance provisions; thus all of the financial institutions they supervise will be subject to the new
requirements. |
OCC's Revised Rule on Flood Insurance - Consistent with the Reform Act,
the final rule requires the purchase of flood insurance when a building or mobile home used as collateral for a
loan is located in a special flood hazard area in a community participating in the National Flood Insurance
Program (NFIP). |
