The Career Voyages team is working hard to bring useful information and new functionality to all of our visitors. We have created this page in an effort to inform you of what we have done and what we're working on. The priority of each project begins with the highest at the top and going down from there.

If you ever have questions or comments about the site, please feel free to Contact Us.

Career Voyages is going to be undergoing some changes and improvements over the next few weeks that we want to alert everyone to. Some of the changes you should keep an eye out for are as follows:

  • As part of the shift toward the U.S. Department of Education's Career Clusters, we will be combining Advanced Manufacturing with Aerospace and Transportation with Automotive.
  • In addition, we will be modifying the titles of some of our industries.
    • Construction = Architecture and Construction
    • Education = Education and Training
    • Health Care = Health Science
    • Hospitality = Hospitality and Tourism
    • Homeland Security = Law, Public Safety, and Security
    • Retail = Marketing, Sales and Service
    • Transportation = Transportation, Distribution and Logistics
Please note, these title changes will not change the content or industry partner information we currently have.

Short-term Development

  • Ongoing improvement of industry sector pages continues.
  • Offer curriculum for teachers and career advisors.

Long-term Development (order does not denote priority or importance)

  • Deploy customized pages for parents and career advisors.
  • Provide a major upgrade in site usability in the form of additional mouseovers, highlights on different parts of the site, and better information about how to use the site.
  • Provide additional information and clarification on the distinction between community colleges, vocational and technical schools.
  • Develop and deploy new content on entrepreneurship.
  • Increase and improve the career video offerings.

This page last updated: May 5, 2009.

This change increased the projected need numbers for our existing occupations. At the same time, it brought a number of new occupations to our attention. We believe this new basis for selecting our occupations provides a much broader picture of the opportunities available in many of the industries.
