In their own words: Western employees share 30 years of memories

Hear in their own words what past and present employees recall about the major projects and programs that have defined Western as an agency. Corporate Communications plans to feature their memories in a booklet entitled, “Looking back and looking ahead—perspectives on 30 years of change at Western,” which will be published this fall to commemorate Western's 30-year anniversary on Dec. 21, 2007. In this booklet you will be able to read first-hand the changes employees have experienced and how they shaped our agency.

For a sneak peak at those employees' perspectives, we are featuring excerpts of the interviews on which this booklet will be based. Here is a sampling of employees' memories that will be featured:

  1. Deb Bean, Western's Procurement manager. She recalls the changes in Western's bidding process, Human Capital Management efforts and how technology and Transformation dramatically changed the Procurement function.
  2. Bob Harris, Upper Great Plains Regional manager. He recollects Native American tribal allocations, efforts to privatize Western, rate adjustments and the Billings plane crash.
  3. Laurent Webber, Western's Cyber Security Program manager.  He discusses the development of cyber security, Y2K and ongoing efforts to secure Western's systems and data.

More employee features will be added as we countdown to our anniversary celebrations.
