Through the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief, the United States continued its leadership in the global HIV/AIDS response, with $6 billion dedicated to fighting the pandemic in fiscal year 2008.  USAID administered roughly $3.3 billion of these funds, supporting HIV/AIDS activities in more than 50 countries through bilateral and regional programs.
