7th Annual LGBTQ Tobacco Summit: Breathe Equality

The National LGBT Tobacco Control Network is pleased to announce the seventh annual National LGBTQ Tobacco Summit. This conference/training will engage, educate, and energize lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning (LGBTQ) communities and allies in the fight against commercial tobacco abuse.

The Summit planning committee invites abstract submissions that address specific issues, approaches, or strategies that contribute to tobacco work in LGBTQ communities.  Submissions on all relevant topics are welcomed. Abstracts will be accepted for breakout sessions, workshops, and poster presentations. When submitting an abstract, please indicate your preference for presentation method. Abstracts from community organizations, youth, and academic researchers are all encouraged. Abstract deadline: April 3, 2009. For more information see http://www.lgbttobacco.org/summit.php.


April Issue Features Selected Full-Text Spanish Translations

Announcement posted 3/16/09

The full-text Spanish translation of 2 articles focused on Hispanics, Acculturation and Dental Visits Among Hispanic Adults and Differences in Patterns of Alcohol Consumption Among Hispanics in the United States, by Survey Language Preference, Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System, 2005 are available in this issue of Preventing Chronic Disease. If you missed our January 2009 issue, 2 articles related to the Mexican Ministry of Health have also been translated.


Submit an Announcement

We welcome brief announcements (25 to 75 words) of events of interest to our readers. In this section, we also include information (no more than 100 words) about upcoming conferences related to the prevention of chronic disease. Announcements should list the topics to be covered during the conference and may refer readers to a Web site with a full description of conference activities. These announcements will be put on our Web site within 2 weeks of approval for publication. All announcements must be submitted through Manuscript Central.
