Office of the CEO

CEO Update on FY 2007 National Service Budget

Dear National Service Colleagues:

The House of Representatives just passed legislation recommending $884.1 million for the Corporation for National and Community Service and its programs for fiscal year 2007. The funding is included in House Joint Resolution 20, legislation that funds agencies and programs across the federal government.

The numbers break down as follows:

Domestic Volunteer Service Act

  • AmeriCorps*VISTA: $95.5 million
  • VISTA Revolving Fund: $3.5 million
  • Senior Corps: $217.6 million
  • RSVP: $59.6 million
  • Foster Grandparents: $110.9 million
  • Senior Companions: $46.9 million

Total for DVSA: $316.5 million

National and Community Service Act

  • AmeriCorps Grants: $264.8 million
  • NCCC: $26.7 million
  • National Service Trust: $117.7 million
  • Learn and Serve America: $37.1 million
  • Innovation and Demonstration: $31.1 million
  • Evaluation: $3.9 million
  • Partnership Grants: 0
  • State Commission Administrative Grants $12.5 million

Total for NCSA: $494 million

Other

  • Salaries and Expenses: $68.6 million
  • Office of Inspector General: $4.9 million

Total for CNCS: $884.1 million

Text of the legislation can be found at http://www.rules.house.gov/110/text/110th_hjres20.pdf. The language about the Corporation is on pages 76-78. This legislation creates and provides initial capitalization for a revolving fund to support VISTA cost-share agreements. In contrast to previous year’s appropriations, the resolution does not designate any specific organizations for funding. The Senate is expected to take up this measure next week. We will share information with you as it becomes available.

Sincerely,

David Eisner
Chief Executive Officer
Corporation for National and Community Service
