Office of the CEO |
Dear National Service Colleagues: The House of Representatives just passed legislation recommending $884.1 million for the Corporation for National and Community Service and its programs for fiscal year 2007. The funding is included in House Joint Resolution 20, legislation that funds agencies and programs across the federal government. The numbers break down as follows: Domestic Volunteer Service Act
Total for DVSA: $316.5 million National and Community Service Act
Total for NCSA: $494 million Other
Total for CNCS: $884.1 million Text of the legislation can be found at http://www.rules.house.gov/110/text/110th_hjres20.pdf. The language about the Corporation is on pages 76-78. This legislation creates and provides initial capitalization for a revolving fund to support VISTA cost-share agreements. In contrast to previous year’s appropriations, the resolution does not designate any specific organizations for funding. The Senate is expected to take up this measure next week. We will share information with you as it becomes available. Sincerely, David Eisner
