Public Health Research

IEIP sites conduct several types of research for disease control and prevention. The types of research include traditional public health research studies, such as descriptive epidemiology and risk factor studies, demonstration or evaluation projects of public health tools, and implementation of disease control strategies.

Objectives of this activity are:

Currently, IEIP sites conduct one or more research studies including a phase III evaluation of tetravalent oral rotavirus vaccine, an assessment of the role of animals as sentinels for emerging infectious disease outbreaks, and etiologic studies for diarrheal, pneumonia, and febrile illness.
