The Toxics Release Inventory – Made Easy (TRI-ME) software page provides access to the software used by facilities to report their toxics release inventory data to EPA.  The TRI-ME software suite helps facilities in determining and completing their Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know (EPCRA) section 313 and Pollution Prevention Act (PPA) section 6607 obligations.

What you need to get started
New facilities reporting to TRI in RY 2008
  • Create a new CDX account.
  • Obtain a new TRIFID identification number
  • Create login name
  • Obtain your new TRI access key
  • Collect the contact information for your certifying official

  • New reporting facilities will be assigned a TRIFID when TRI report is received by EPA.
  • Enter "New Facility" on your paper TRI form in the TRIFID field.
  • Facilities that have reported in previous years to TRI
  • Login to your CDX account with your previous year login name and password.
  • Enter your facility's TRIFID identification number.
  • Use the access key your facility used in previous to access your CDX account.
  • UPdate your contact information for your certifying official.
  • Login to your CDX account with your previous year login name and password.
  • Enter your facility's TRIFID identification number.
  • Use the access key your facility used in previous to access your CDX account.
  • UPdate your contact information for your certifying official.
  • Enter the TRIFID identification number that was assigned in previous TRI reports for your facilty or call the TRI help desk to obtain your TRIFID.

  • TRI-MEweb will not send paper TRI forms to EPA, any improper paper submissions to EPA may be considered invalid.
  • Facilities that do not reside in States that have data exchange systems, will require a paper or disk submission to meet EPCRA reporting requirements.
  • Facilities reporting dioxin releases can only do so using TRI-MEweb.
  • Facility reporting dioxin releases can not use TRI-MEdesktop /cd, must use TRI-MEweb to report.
  • Facilities that do not reside in States that have a TRI data exchange system, will require a paper or disk submission to meet their EPCRA reporting requirements.
  • Paper submissions require more time to process given their high incidence for errors.
  • Some data fields require complex calculations that can be found in the RFI.
  • Any errors on forms will generate an official notification on non-complaince to facility.

  • Certification of TRI Forms R or A A Certifying official must have registered their electronic signature agreement with EPA, and have an active CDX account before being able to certified their facility's TRI forms to EPA and their state. Uncertified TRI forms will not meet EPCRA reporting requirements. A Certifying official must certify at the computer the preparer is using or will be sent an email with a link to certify forms. Uncertified TRI forms will not meet EPCRA reporting requirements. A Certifying official must signed any paper submissions sent to EPA or their state.
