The EPA strives to help the regulated community understand, implement and comply with federal regulations. The Agency employs a variety of means to achieve these goals. EPA dockets and information centers serve as repositories for information related to the rulemaking process. Legal standards, thresholds and limits are established. Guidance documents are issues to offer direction in following regulations. Compliance reports are gathered to ensure that regulations are being obeyed. And, finally, legal action is undertaken to pursue those who do not fully comply with the requirements of environmental legislation.
