Air subtopics Alphabetical List of All Topics

The EPA implements a number of programs intended to protect human health and the environment through specific attention to the earth's atmosphere. The Acid Rain Program focuses on obtaining emission reductions of sulfur dioxide (SO2) and nitrogen oxides (NOx). The Ozone Layer Protection program focuses on protection of ozone layer through achieving the phase-out of ozone-depleting substances. The Climate Protection program focuses on reducing greenhouse gas emissions through implementing voluntary, energy efficiency programs.
