Basic Information
Meet the Network
Green Suppliers Network is a collaborative venture among industry, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP), that focuses on helping small and medium-sized manufacturers remain competitive and profitable while reducing their impact on the environment. The Green Suppliers Network works with large manufacturers to engage their small and medium size suppliers in low-cost technical reviews that focus on process improvement and waste minimization. The following are the members that make up the Green Suppliers Network program:
EPA operates and funds the Green Suppliers Network in collaboration with the U.S. Department of Commerce's National Standards and Technology, Manufacturing Extension Partnership. U.S. EPA provides program support and funding.
The U.S. Department of Commerce's National Standards and Technology Manufacturing Extension Partnership (NIST MEP) conducts the Green Suppliers Network technical reviews. Green Suppliers technical reviews combine Lean and Clean manufacturing techniques to assist manufacturers to increase energy efficiency, identify cost-saving opportunities, and optimize resources to eliminate waste within their manufacturing processes.
State Pollution Prevention (P2) Technical Assistance Providers often assist NIST MEP experts in the Green Suppliers Network reviews. State technical assistance programs (TAPs) strive to promote sustainable development and resource efficiency by providing services and technical assistance to help businesses and state agencies enhance their pollution prevention programs.
Corporate Champions are large manufacturers, commonly known as Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM)s that are at the top of the supply chain. Corporate Champions nominate and help facilitate their suppliers' participation in the program.
- Partners are small and medium-sized manufacturers that directly participate in the on-site Green Suppliers Network review and work to implement Lean and Clean improvement opportunities within their facilities.
