Training and Technical Assistance Center

OVC TTAC LogoThe Office for Victims of Crime Training and Technical Assistance Center (OVC TTAC) provides comprehensive, quality technical assistance and training resources to victim service providers and allied professionals.

Training Initiatives

  • Training for Victim Service Providers. OVC brings practical skill-building sessions to victim service providers throughout the country. Continue meeting your 2008 training goals with this lineup of select workshops from OVC!
  • State Victim Assistance Academies (SVAAs). Modeled after the National Victim Assistance Academy, SVAAs provide state-specific training in victim issues. Information about SVAAs and help with establishing them is available.
  • VATOnline, NVAA, and Other Training Offerings. This Fact Sheet (PDF 94 kb) provides information on some of the many training opportunities available to victim service providers, including the upcoming Victim Assistance Training Online (VATOnline) and National Victim Assistance Academies (NVAAs).

Scholarship Programs

OVC is pleased to be offering scholarships to victim service providers and eligible agencies and organizations. The following pages provide information on the application process, eligibility criteria, and application due dates for two OVC scholarship programs:

Tools & Resources

  • Victim Impact: Listen and Learn Curriculum (February 2009)
    This Office for Victims of Crime-funded curriculum (NCJ 224257) is geared toward helping offenders to become aware of the impact that crime has on victims and then to take responsibility and make amends for their actions. The online-only curriculum consists of 13 units, built around 10 core crime topics: property crime, assault, robbery, hate and bias, gang violence, sexual assault, child abuse and neglect, domestic violence, drunk and impaired driving, and homicide, plus chapters on implementing the program, the victim experience and making amends to victims.   • OVC Calendar of EventsNational Calendar of Crime Victim Assistance-Related Events-an interactive Web-based master calendar of events in the crime victim services field. Launched in January 2006, this OVC Web tool allows users to find or submit field events for free.

  • National Conference Support Program. Supports national conferences on victim issues by providing resources or underwriting conference activities. Learn more about the National Conference Support Program, including its comprehensive menu of eligible conference support activities and resources, guidelines, and requirements.
