On-Line Recreation Permits

photo montage You can apply for and purchase recreation permits on-line to visit three Bureau of Land Management special areas in Arizona — Aravaipa Canyon, Paria Canyon, and Coyote Buttes Wilderness Areas. The number of allowable visitors to these areas is limited to protect the landscape and the wildlife, and to ensure a quality experience for everyone. The permit fees you pay are directly deposited to the areas to maintain and improve the services and the resources. Fees may vary, so be sure to read the information for each area.

To use this system, have your trip plans, calendar, and credit card ready, then click on the location where you wish to apply for a permit. Search for an available date, time and place you are seeking. Once you've selected your dates, you will be interfaced with a secure site to input your credit card information. The system will process your request and issue a confirmation, email, number, bar code, or receipt, as appropriate for the area you plan to visit.

This system uses uses TLS security and 128-bit encryption for payment processing.

To enable TLS security in your browser:

  • On the Tools menu, click Internet Options
  • On the Advanced tab, under Security, make sure that "Use TLS 1.0" is checked (towards the bottom of the list)
  • Click Apply, and then click OK
  • Refresh the page

Minimum browser requirements to support 128 bit encryption:

  • Internet Explorer 6.0
  • Mozilla Firefox 1.5 or greater
  • Mozilla 1.7 or greater
  • Netscape 7.x
  • Safari 1.2 (for MAC users)

To ensure security, the payment input page is encrypted at a secure site maintained by a government contractor. BLM does not maintain any record of your credit card information. BLM maintains only your name, your permit information, the amount you paid, and your internet protocol address.
