ATIS has 20 committees and forums with over 1,100 representatives from 300 different member companies. Representatives from member companies who join specific committees or forums are invited to participate in meetings and sub-committee activities.
Bar Code/Standard Coding (BCSC)
The Bar Code/Standard Coding (BCSC) Committee establishes guidelines for common shipping labels, product marking labels, product changes and software issuance standards. These common guidelines simplify the receiving, shipping, transportation and tracing of telecommunications products through company and industry business processes and the supply chain.
Emergency Services Interconnection Forum (ESIF)
ESIF is comprised of wireless and wireline network service providers, manufacturers and providers of support services that facilitate the identification and resolution of technical issues related to the interconnection of telephony and emergency services networks.
Information and Data Security Committee (IDSC)
ATIS' Information and Data Security Committee (IDSC) identifies and addresses information and data security topics specific to the communications industry. The committee provides a forum for the sharing and development of best practices and security approaches and, when appropriate, creates IT data and security standards.
IPTV Interoperability Forum (IIF)
The IIF develops ATIS standards and related technical activities that enable the interoperability, interconnection and implementation of IPTV systems and services, including video on demand and interactive TV services.
Internetwork Interoperability Test Coordination (IITC) Committee
IITC provides an open forum in which North American telecommunications industry service providers, vendors, and the user community communicate. This committee coordinates internetwork, interoperability testing of telecommunications services and architectures resulting from the introduction of new network interconnections and technologies.
Industry Numbering Committee (INC)
INC provides an open forum to address and resolve issues associated with the planning, administration, allocation, assignment and use of resources and related dialing considerations for public telecommunications within the North American Numbering Plan (NANP) area.
IMSI Oversight Council (IOC)
IOC is responsible for overseeing management of International Mobile Subscriber Identifier (IMSI) codes.
Network Interconnection Interoperability Forum (NIIF)
The NIIF provides an open forum to encourage the discussion and resolution, on a voluntary basis, of industry-wide issues associated with telecommunications network interconnection and interoperability which involve network architecture, management, testing and operations and facilitates the exchange of information.
Network Interface, Power and Protection Committee (NIPP)
(Formerly T1E1)
The Network Interface, Power, and Protection Committee (NIPP) develops and recommends standards and technical reports related to power systems, electrical and physical protection for exchange and interexchange carrier networks, and interfaces associated with user access to telecommunications networks.
Network Reliability Steering Committee (NRSC)
The NRSC performs analyses of network outages and provides recommendations for corrective actions. The committee issues quarterly and annual reports to the industry and the FCC, in liaison with the FCC's Network Reliability Council.
Committee O5 - Wood Poles (O5)
Committee O5 develops standards and specifications for industry use in areas dealing with wood poles, crossarms and other wood products.
Ordering and Billing Forum (OBF)
The OBF provides a forum for representatives from the telecommunications industry to identify, discuss and resolve national issues, which affect ordering, billing, provisioning and exchange of information about access service, other connectivity and related matters.
Optical Transport and Synchronization Committee (OPTXS)
(Formerly T1X1)
OPTXS develops and recommends standards and prepares technical reports related to telecommunications network technology pertaining to network synchronization interfaces and hierarchical structures for U.S. telecommunications networks, some of which are associated with other telecommunications networks. OPTXS focuses on those functions and characteristics necessary to define and establish the interconnection of signals comprising network transport. This includes aspects of both asynchronous and synchronous networks. OPTXS also makes recommendations on related subject matter under consideration in various North American and international standards organizations.
Network Performance, Reliability and Quality of Service Committee (PRQC)
(Formerly T1A1)
PRQC develops and recommends standards, requirements, and technical reports related to the performance, reliability, and associated security aspects of communications networks, as well as the processing of voice, audio, data, image, and video signals, and their multimedia integration. PRQC also develops and recommends positions on, and fosters consistency with, standards and related subjects under consideration in other North American and international standards bodies.
Packet Technologies and Systems Committee (PTSC)
(Formerly T1S1)
PTSC develops and recommends standards and technical reports related to packet services and packet service architectures, in addition to related subjects under consideration in other North American and international standards bodies.
Service Oriented Networks Forum (SON)
The SON Forum will enable the interoperability and implementation of Service Oriented Network (SON) applications and services by developing standards, providing coordination for the development of standards and practices, and facilitating related technical activities. This forum will place an emphasis on telecommunications industry needs in collaboration with regional and international standards development programs in the telecommunications, IT and Web industries.
Telecommunications Fraud Prevention Committee (TFPC)
The TFPC provides a working forum to identify issues involving fraud, pertinent to the telecommunications industry, and to discuss and develop resolutions for voluntary implementation by the industry.
Telecom Management and Operations Committee (TMOC)
(Formerly T1M1)
The Telecom Management and Operations Committee (TMOC) develops operations, administration, maintenance and provisioning standards, and other documentation related to Operations Support System (OSS) and Network Element (NE) functions and interfaces for communications networks - with an emphasis on standards development related to U.S.A. communication networks in coordination with the development of international standards.
Wireless Technologies and Systems Committee (WTSC)
(Formerly T1P1)
Develops and recommends standards and technical reports related to wireless and/or mobile services and systems, including service descriptions and wireless technologies. The Wireless Technologies and Systems Committee also develops and recommends positions on related subjects under consideration in other North American, regional and international standards bodies.
Other ATIS Programs
Administrative Council for Terminal Attachments (ACTA)
ACTA is responsible for adopting and publishing technical criteria for terminal equipment, and operating a database of approved terminal equipment, among other duties. ACTA is jointly sponsored by ATIS and TIA.
ATIS Incubator Solutions Program
A unique service that provides the industry with a "fast-track" process for resolving technical or operational issues. ATIS presently manages a Hearing Aid Compatibility (HAC) Incubator in response to an FCC ruling requiring wireless manufactures and service providers to make digital wireless phones accessible to individuals with hearing disabilities.
Protection Engineers Group (PEG)
PEG seeks to improve the safety and reliability of networks, and to support electrical protection of communications facilities.
