Which federal programs receive financial assistance?
States and tribes with primary enforcement for Federal programs authorized under SDWA
- Public Water System Supervision (PWSS) Program: State Public Water System Supervision Grant
- Underground Injection Control (UIC) Program: State Underground Water Source Protection Grant
States, tribes, the District of Columbia, Territories and possessions of the United States are eligible to receive Capitalization grants for infrastructure improvement: Drinking Water State Revolving Fund

What competitive funding opportunities are available?
At this time no competive funding opportunies are available. The application period for the last funding opportunity closed on April 27th. The Agency expects announcing the results of the competition during the summer of 2009.

From March 12th to April 27th, EPA solicited proposals from eligible applicants for technical assistance and support to enhance communication and coordination between EPA and the states to protect ground water; and to develop and expand the capability of state Underground Injection Control (UIC) programs (Class I-V and proposed Class VI), tribes with UIC primary enforcement authority (primacy), and source water protection (with an emphasis on ground water protection) programs.
EPA anticipates funding one award under this announcement. It is anticipated that the award will be incrementally funded at approximately $300,000 per year and will have a three-year project period.
