Welcome to the News and Resources page of the USFWS Invasive Species Web Portal. The goal of this section is to provide the user with quick access, via USFWS content and links, to invasive species contacts, frequently asked questions, news, topical information, and resources for the general public, students, scientists and, eventually children and the media.

For more information...

  • Frequently Asked Questions - Answers to many of the common invasive species questions as well as more specific questions on the Service and its programs.
  • Injurious Wildlife - Current status on activities pertaining to Injurious Wildlife listings under the Lacey Act.
  • Resources for Teachers - Kids love to learn about invasive species. One way to get them involved is to teach them how to recognize invasive plants in their area. Being on the lookout for new invaders and reporting them to land managers early can be critically important in the fight against invasive species. Early detection networks are developing all around the country. The Student Weed Stopper Program (269 KB PDF) is one of these networks and includes classroom and laboratory activities.
