RESEARCH RESULTS

Droege, Sam. 2003. Spring Arrivals of Maryland and Washington, D.C. Birds. Maryland Birdlife, Volume 59, No. 1-2.

Current Research Projects:

The Bird Phenology Program is currently looking at Barn Swallow data to explore it’s quality and characteristics. After this is assessed, the BPP will analyze more specific information with this data set such as the cycle of arrival dates over time, the association of spring temperatures, and latitudes and longitudes throughout North America.

Maps created by Jane Fallon:

Agathe Duponteil, has recently come to work with the BPP from Rennes, France. While here until February 2009, she will be completing an internship focusing on a bio-statistical study on the relationship between climate change and arrival dates of Barn Swallows and Purple Martins.
Agathe is currently in a highly-selective agronomic institution: ENSAR (Ecole Nationale Superieure d’Agronomie de Rennes). As part of her schooling, she is spending the first semester of her second year here with the BPP, to complete an intensive University course. She will obtain an Engineering Degree upon completion at her University.
