Uruguay’s plastics sector is among the top ten most important of the economy. All raw material and all machinery are imported. While imports of materials and machinery fell drastically over the past five years, due to Uruguay’s economic crisis in 2002/2003, there are signals that the current strong economic recovery is reversing this trend.
