National Environmental Crime Prevention Week
The major objective of National Environmental Crime Prevention Week (NECPW) is to convey to the general public and government enforcement personnel the seriousness of environmental criminal activity and increase their awareness of the signs of environmental criminal activity and the need to report such activity to the proper authorities.
The Regional Environmental Enforcement Associations have declared the second full week in April as National Environmental Crime Prevention Week. President George W. Bush recognized the importance of the annual observance and stated that "individuals, communities, and environmental enforcement professionals must work together to stop environmental criminal activity."
The Regional Associations intend to progressively develop a diverse and broad based public awareness program by targeting different segments of the general public annually. Each successive year will add new activities and events aimed at increasing the awareness of a certain segment of the propulation.
7th annual observance of National Environmental Crime Prevention Week continues efforts to educate Law Enforcement and the Public on how to recognize and report Environmental Crime.
6th annual observance with the continued focus of raising awareness of the public and enforcement personnel to the signs of environmental crime.
5th annual observance continues the focus of previous NECPW activities of raising awareness of the public and enforcement personnel to the signs of environmental crime and offers a new on-line tool for reporting potential criminal activity.
The focus of NECPW continues to be "Learn the Signs of Environmental Crimes " in order to encourage both students and adults to play an active role in the protection of the environment.
Continues the work begun last year with targeting middle school students and encouraging them to take an active role as advocates and enforcers for the environment.
This observation will target "the next generation of environmental advocates and enforcers, middle school students."
Designed to encourage individuals to recognize and report to law enforcement authorities those types of activities which indicate that an environmental crime may have occurred.
