EPA Region 4 Clean and Sustainable Energy
This EPA Region 4 Clean and Sustainable Energy Web site provides general information about existing clean and sustainable energy options, research on clean and sustainable energy technologies, and other topics related to clean energy and climate change.
Background
President Bush has committed the United States to a leadership role in addressing the interrelated challenges of climate change, improved energy security, cleaner air, and sustained economic growth. The commitment includes aggressive and practical strategies to reduce greenhouse gas and other toxic emissions and lessen our nation's dependence on imported oil.
Nationally, EPA is playing a substantial role in advancing the President's energy and climate strategies. In the U.S. southeastern states of EPA Region 4, this means pursuing policies and actions to help the Southeast use energy more efficiently and affordably, speed the transition to cleaner energy sources, improve energy security, reduce greenhouse gases, and implement adaptation and mitigation strategies.
On this website, you will find information on climate change and greenhouses gases, other toxics and waste issues associated with current energy technologies, and promising new sustainable technologies that will lessen both our greenhouse gas and toxics emissions intensity while simultaneously reducing our reliance on fossil-based fuels.
