What is the West Virginia District Export Council?
The West Virginia District Export Council (WVDEC) is one of the 59 District Export Councils (DEC) that have been established across the United States. Members are appointed by the Secretary of Commerce and all work under the same national mission of the District Export Councils. This mission is to contribute leadership and international trade expertise to complement the U.S. Commercial Service’s export promotion efforts through counseling businesses on the exporting process and conducting trade education and community outreach.
The West Virginia District Export members engage themselves in many trade activities including mentoring of companies in the following counties: (CS Charleston coverage) Boone, Braxton, Cabell, Calhoun, Clay, Fayette, Gilmer, Greenbrier, Jackson, Kanawha, Lewis, Lincoln, Logan, Mason, McDowell, Mercer, Mingo, Monroe, Nicholas, Pendleton, Pocahontas, Putnam, Raleigh, Randolph, Roane, Summers, Upshur, Wayne, Webster, Wirt, Wyoming and (CS Wheeling coverage) Barbour, Berkeley, Brooke, Doddridge, Grant, Hampshire, Hancock, Hardy, Harrison, Jefferson, Marion, Marshall, Mineral, Monongalia, Morgan, Ohio, Pleasants, Preston, Ritchie, Taylor, Tucker, Tyler, Wetzel, and Wood.
