Fire EcologyMany ecosystem types within the coastal prairie region are naturally fire dependent, which has major implications for management and restoration. In particular, the use of prescribed fire to manage these systems raises many questions about how the habitats respond to different burn regimes. Interactions between fire and invasive plants are of particular importance, since it is hoped that prescribed burning will generally favor native species and eliminate opportunities for exotic invaders.
