The city of Cordoba was founded on July 6, 1573, by Jerónimo Luis
de Cabrera, on the banks of the Suquía River. It is the capital
of the Province of Cordoba and has around 1,300,000
inhabitants.
Located in the geographical heart of Argentina, Cordoba lies in
the center of the transoceanic corridor that links the ports of
Rosario, Argentina and Valparaiso, Chile and is about 440 miles
from Argentina’s capital, Buenos Aires. Argentina’s second
largest city and traditionally a vibrant student hub, Cordoba is
considered today to be the technological center of
Argentina. The suburb of Falda is home to the Argentine
Spaceport and a variety of high-tech international companies have
offices in Cordoba or its outlying areas. A popular tourist
destination, Cordoba combines a rich culture with a variety of
outdoor activities such as paragliding, rafting and hiking.
Cordoba is connected to the surrounding areas by virtually every
form of transport available; there are train lines, river routes,
air connections and highways to all parts of the country and
internationally.

Tourism in Cordoba
Popularly known as La Docta, Cordoba is the capital city
of the homonimous province. Cordoba is called La Docta due
to the fact that there are important universities here, and also
Ciudad de las Campanas (The City of the Bells) because
both Franciscans and Dominicans built up many churches. This
historical city was born due to the wish of linking the Alto
Peru with the Rio de la Plata in the so-called
Camino Real. Cordoba is the second largest city in
Argentina and the most important one in the central region of the
country.
Tourist destination chosen because of its history and impressive
landscapes, Cordoba has attractive and surprising places for the
visitor. A straight way of getting to this city is by plane
arriving at Pajas Blancas International Airport.
It puts together the typical attractions of big cities with a lifestyle in contact with nature: Along the streets and avenues, one can admire the colonial architecture as well as modern buildings and charming green areas such as Parque Sarmiento designed at the end of the XIX Century.
Tourists can go on amusing tours that include San Martin Square,
the hundred-year-old Cathedral, the historical Cabildo
(Chapter House), Trejo's House and different museums.
Only a few kilometers away from Cordoba City, tourists can go on
quad excursions, mountain bike rides or practice paragliding in
one of the most beautiful regions of Argentina. And also
nightlife in Cordoba has many cultural and entertainment
alternatives. It's a city to be fully enjoyed.
