Karen Bouye, MPH, MS, PhD Senior

Dr. Karen E. Bouye is a pioneer in
the Office of Minority Health, and has worked in the office since
its inception. Starting her career at the CDC as a Staff
Specialist, she has worked in the office in numerous positions in
administration, management and programs. After
working with cooperative agreements in the office for a number of
years, she decided that her goal was to become a researcher
working in the area of “Health Disparities.” |
She is currently the Senior
Advisor for Research and has her Ph.D. from Ohio State University. |
Education |
Dr. Bouye received her bachelor's degree from
Tennessee State University, in Nashville, TN. She received
her
Master's in Public Health from Emory University's Rollins
School of Public Health. Dr. Bouye received her Master's of
Science from Ohio State University. In June 2005 she received her Doctorate of Philosophy in Public Health at Ohio
State University. |
Career |
Dr. Bouye is an advocate for eliminating health
disparities among racial/ethnic populations. She provides
scientific advice and consultation for critical minority health
research issues; serves as a principal advisor on the planning,
development, coordination, and implementation of minority health
programs, policies, and initiatives implemented nationally and
she partners with others throughout CDC to conduct research. |

Dr. Bouye is a member of the
Caucus of Black Alumni at Emory University, the American Public Health Association, the
American Statistical Association, and the CDC
Behavioral and Social Science Working Group. |
