 Major Actions Taken to Date:
  • Released notices to eligible claimants for Extended Unemployment Benefits explaining the program and what action will be needed to claim these benefits.
  • Updated the Interactive Voice Response message on the RRB's nationwide toll-free telephone system to describe the Economic Recovery Payments and the Extended Unemployment Benefits.
  • Updated the Frequently Asked Questions on the RRB's Recovery Act web page to encourage claimants to keep their home address and direct deposit information up to date.
 Major Planned Actions:
  • Continue work on programming and analysis for one-time Economic Recovery Act payments and for Extended Unemployment Benefits.
  • Plan to issue a question and answer format press release by late April regarding the Extended Unemployment Benefits.
  • Plan to begin mailing advance notices to approximately 517,000 beneficiaries about their one-time payments by April 27, 2009.
  • Plan to issue one-time Recovery Act payments to approximately 517,000 entitled railroad retirement beneficiaries in late May 2009.
  • Release draft plans to OMB for the Extended Unemployment Benefits and for the Economic Recovery Payments.
