Overview
Mel Bochner is one of the most prominent figures of the minimal and conceptual art generation. For some forty years, in a body of work that includes painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, film, and installation, he has investigated the axioms and conventions of language, measurement, linear perspective, and other systems of symbolic representation. Bochner is also a celebrated writer and critic, having composed defining texts on the art of his contemporaries. This conversation honors the museum's acquisition of his wall painting Theory of Boundaries (1969–1970).
