Upcoming Events

3rd Annual CounterACT Network Research Symposium
Tuesday April 14th - Thursday April 16, 2009
Omni Shoreham Hotel
2500 Calvert Street NW (at Connecticut Ave.), Washington, D.C. 20008

The meeting serves two purposes: 1) To facilitate information sharing and collaboration among investigators within the CounterACT Network, and 2) To allow NIH staff an opportunity to review progress of each award.

  • NIH-Sponsored Attendees
    • Junior Investigator Travel Awardee
Travel and lodging for selected junior investigators, post doctoral fellows, or graduate assistants will be paid for by the NIH:
One award per U01/U44/IAA/Contract project; or up to Three awards per U54 Center.  These individuals should be actively involved in CounterACT-funded research.  Information on how to nominate a travel awardee will be sent via email to all CounterACT Network PIs at a later date.
    •  External Advisory Committee Member
      Travel and lodging for
one representative of each Center's External Advisory Committee will be paid by the NIH.
  • Due to space limitations, we ask that each PI limit the number of invited guests to a maximum of Two per U01/U44/IAA/Contract project. This limit can include, the project PI, one junior scientist travel awardee and one key collaborator, or two key collaborators and the project PI, for a total of Three attendees per project.  For Centers, treat each Subproject as if it were an individual award (e.g. a U01).  For example, if  the Center has three Subprojects, the Center would be allowed a TOTAL of 9 (3 X 3) attendees .   T he Center's External Advisory Committee member will not count toward this limit.  Please contact Dr. David Yeung for additional details.
  • For the two new Centers which include previously-funded U01s, please contact Dr. David Yeung for attendee limitations.
  • Please note that travel and lodging for all attendees (other than Travel Awardees and External Advisory Committee members) will not be paid for by the NIH, but may be supported by the parent research grant, if budgeted.
  • Meeting Submission:
In lieu of a Meeting Abstract, all CounterACT Network PIs are requested to submit a Quad Chart briefly summarizing scientific accomplishments and milestones reached in the current project year.  Details on Quad Chart format will be sent via email to all CounterACT Network PIs at a later date.

Additional details concerning lodging, airline travel, hotel accommodations, and reimbursement will be available on the conference website shortly.  Registration login information will be sent under separate cover by the logistics contractor, EDJ Associates, Inc.

Please contact Ms. Stacey Chambers (chambers@ninds.nih.go v ) or Dr. David Yeung (yeungd@ninds.nih.go v ) if you have any questions or concerns regarding the general meeting .
