Regional Oil and Gas Information
The Minerals Management Service, Pacific Region, is tasked
with overseeing the oil and gas operations and activities on the leases (currently 79; 43
of which are producing) in the federal OCS waters offshore southern
California. Regulatory requirements govern the activities on these leases providing for
safe and environmentally sound operations. After a lease is issued, all the post-lease
activities require extensive review and approval before any operations can take place on
the lease.
