The purpose of this document is to provide guidance on how to make a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the Peace Corps. It will provide you with a brief description of your rights and the manner in which Peace Corps will respond to your requests. The information contained herein is not intended to be definitive or exhaustive.

The FOIA Requester Service Center

In compliance with the President's Executive Order 13392, signed December 14, 2005, Peace Corps has established a FOIA Requester Service Center, which can be reached at 202.692.1236.

The FOIA Requester Service Center will enable FOIA requesters to seek information concerning the status of their FOIA request and appropriate information about the agency's FOIA response.

The main FOIA Requester Service Center is situated within the FOIA Office in the Management Department of Peace Corps. The FOIA Office, as the Service Center is known at Peace Corps, handles all requests for every department in the agency, except the Office of the Inspector General. The FOIA Office is the first place a requester can contact to seek information concerning the status of the person's request and receive information about the Agency's response.

Designated Public Liaisons

Public liaisons serve as supervisory officials to whom a FOIA requester can raise concerns about the service the FOIA requester has received from the Center, following an initial response from the Center staff.

The designated FOIA Public Liaison at the Peace Corps' FOIA Requester Service Center is Allison Tanaka, Agency FOIA Officer, Public Liaison, and can be reached at 202.692.1236.

The Inspector General's Office at Peace Corps handles their own FOIA requests and is a second FOIA Requester Service Center.

The designated FOIA Public Liaison in the Inspector General's FOIA Requester Service Center is Roberta Raftovich, and can be reached at 202.692.2929.
