"Created to provide Emergency Responders, purchasers, and planners with a trusted, integrated, on-line source of information on products, standards, certifications, grants, and other equipment-related information."
The National Preparedness Directorate (NPD) has developed a program to assist the emergency management/response community identify products that adhere to standards and the concepts and principles of the National Incident Management System (NIMS). The program, called the NIMS Supporting Technology Evaluation Program (NIMS STEP), provides a mechanism for verifying that technologies conform to interoperability standards and can exchange critical messages during disasters.
Evaluations are currently being offered at no cost to interested vendors. For more information, visit the NIMS STEP Program Page on the RKB, or visit the NIMS Website at https://www.nimsstep.org.
