Supplemental Nutrition
Assistance Program |
The
Recovery Act increases benefits
for SNAP recipients. Starting in
April, a participating household
of four will receive an increase
of $80 in benefits. Over 5
years, the increases in benefits
are estimated to total $20
billion. The Recovery Act also provides nearly $300 million to
States for SNAP administrative
expenses in FY 2009
and 2010.

competitive grants to schools
for the
purchase of school food service
equipment.

Program |
The
Emergency Food Assistance
Program (TEFAP) will receive
$100 million to purchase
commodities for food banks to
refill emptying shelves and $50
million to assist with
administrative functions.
