Boozhoo, Chi Anishinaabe Ndizhnikaaz (also known as Steve Pego.) A historical event has taken place here in Mt. Pleasant to restore our culture, traditions, and our sacred language; one that hasnt happened in 100 years! As a Midewiwin of the Three Fires Lodge, and a member of the Ogitchidaw society, I would like to say Miigwetch to the Mt Pleasant Midewiwin and committee members for all their hard work in planning for the winter ceremonies. There are many who have helped make this event one of the best ever. Im proud of the community and the people who work here. Miigwetch first of all to the Tribal Council for making the funding possible, and sending the representatives to one of the sessions. Miigwetch to Seventh Generation Mens group, the Saginaw Chippewa Ogitchidaw Society, the Aabizakaawin students & teachers, who helped with lodge construction, the Soaring Eagle and Resort, Grounds Maintenance, Tribal Maintenance, Central Plant and Woodshop, Public Relations,Ziibiwing Center, Parks & Recreation, the Saginaw Chippewa Academy students and teachers, and Mary Lynn for the fantastic pancakes!! Also a Chi-Miigwetch to our ceremonial cook Mary Lou, who did an incredible job in making sure we got fed. Lastly, to all of the Midewiwin from all over the country and Canada that came to Mt Pleasant for healing and bringing the teachings to us in a good hearted way. There was an elder and Grandson that came all the way from Kenora, Canada seeking healing for themselves and their Community. Western Doorway from Manitoba said we were good hosts and that they felt at home here. I hated to see everybody go home, but spring ceremonies are just around the corner. Miigwetch.
