In recent years...John has notified local, state and federal officials as well as various volunteer agencies of approaching severe or winter weather via email. When bad weather is on the horizon, John details what may happen in the emails so that people may plan accordingly. As the weather changes, so do the emails...with updates sent as necessary. His efforts earned him this special award.

The award reads...

"For your exceptional service to the people of Arkansas and to the American Red Cross. Your warning information to State, Federal and non-governmental agencies keeps Arkansas citizens 'in the know' whenever severe weather is threatening Arkansas. The warnings you issue are well thought out and to the point. You literally take the reader through the process of weather forecasting, explaining eloquently the threats faced and the locations threatened. Forwarded by numerous agencies throughout Arkansas, readers call for the reports when not immediately forwarded. Your warnings give people the time to prepare for severe weather and have surely saved lives. We thank you for your continued support to the Red Cross and Arkansas' preparedness.

A few months later (August 29th through the 31st), the Arkansas Emergency Management Association (AEMA) presented at plaque to John for his emails. John received a standing ovation when the award was presented. The plaque reads...

"For you ongoing commitment of time, support and inspiration to Arkansas emergency management endeavors."
