30 Yr Service Award

Mr. Russell Carter of Evening Shade, Arkansas has been a cooperative observer for the National Weather Service for 30 years.  He has collected temperature and rainfall data on a daily basis, with his measurements sent to the National Climatic Data Center in Asheville, North Carolina. The data is eventually published to become a part of the permanent record of the world's weather.

The temperature and rainfall data collected by Mr. Carter is very important to the National Weather Service. Future weather and river forecasts are partly based on the data he sends, with the data helping to increase the accuracy of the forecasts.

For his efforts, Mr. Carter received a 30 Year Length-of-Service Award on May 24, 2007.
