The Smtihsonian Corporate Membership Program offers a variety of events and programs for employees and their families. The following is a sampling of the activities offered through the Program.
IMAX Movies
Tickets to select IMAX movies are offered to all levels of employees
of your corporation. The Smithsonian has
three IMAX movie theaters, one in the National
Air & Space
Museum, National Museum of Natural History,
and the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center (Chantilly,
VA.)
Private Tours of Smithsonian Museums & Research Centers
Blue Vault at the National Museum of Natural History -- Enter the high security vault where the National Museum of Natural History keeps its precious gems that are not on display. Hold a priceless stone in your hand and learn about the storage exhibition procedures that ensure these gems and minerals are available for generations to come.
Greenhouse Facility -- Travel outside of downtown Washington and
visit the Institution’s beautiful horticulture collections at its
complex of greenhouses. Accompanied by
a Smithsonian expert, you and your corporation’s employees learn about
the variety of our planet’s
plant life and view the Smithsonian’s rare orchid collection. The
Horticultural Department is responsible
for the exquisitely manicured grounds and
gardens of the Smithsonian and the annual
orchid exhibition located in the S. Dillon
Ripley Center.
Smithsonian Jazz Café
Experience some of the finest jazz at Washington
's cultural jazz club, the Smithsonian Jazz
Café in
the Atrium of the Smithsonian's Natural History Museum features live music and an elegant a la carte dinner with south-of-the-border specialties
and beverages, such as tapas, paella, quesadillas, and sangria. With concerts
each week, you corporation’s employees can enjoy American classic jazz to new
compilations featuring different cultures.
Discovery Theater
The Smithsonian’s Discovery Theater offers a variety of presentations with programs for children of all ages. Let your children experience the magic of the musical adaptation of House at Pooh Corner, where British author A.A. Milne’s imaginative books highlight the joys of growing up with Piglet, Eeyore, Tigger, Kanga and Roo, Rabbit, Christopher Robin and that lovable bear Winnie the Pooh. Or watch the puppets dance and laugh with The Grey Seal Puppets’ 20th century version of the Emperor’s New Clothes.
