UAF has 943 faculty and 2,954 staff and student workers.

The UAF governance structure encompasses the Faculty Senate, Staff Council, ASUAF (Associated Students of UAF) and Governance Coordinating Committee. The Faculty Senate is the primary mechanism for formulating and overseeing academic policy. Staff Council provides staff employees an avenue to help formulate new policies, change existing policies or working conditions and other matters that affect services provided by UAF support staff. The Cornerstone faculty and staff newsletter is published biweekly and includes information on events, deadlines and special announcements.

Transportation Services provides campus and parking lot shuttles, as well as a disabled persons shuttle, and transportation to faculty, staff, students and visitors affiliated with the university.
