New Student Orientation

Expectations and responsibilities for Orientation Leaders include:

  1. Attend and actively participate in all Orientation Leader training programs.
  2. Be committed to being an Orientation Leader by attending all mandatory meetings, each day of the New Student Orientation program, and completing assigned duties.
  3. Assist with the organization, planning, and implementation of New Student Orientation
  4. programs and activities.
  5. Acquaint new students with campus services, activities, facilities, and encourage them to actively participate in the UAF environment.
  6. Give informative, friendly, and engaging campus tours.
  7. Continue to interact with the incoming students through their first year at UAF; be approachable and respectful.
  8. Participate in the evaluation process of the UAF New Student Orientation program.
  9. Additional duties as assigned.

Orientation is REQUIRED for:

  • First year baccalaureate degree-seeking students entering UAF with fewer than 30 credits
  • Students participating in the EDGE program
  • International students
  • UA scholars

Fall 2009 New Student Orientation will be Sunday, Aug. 30, 8 a.m., through the evening of Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2009. A schedule with event details, times, and locations will be posted by mid-May 2009.

The fee for this event is $75, which will be directly applied to student accounts of those who are mandated and those who choose to participate in New Student Orientation.
