CHEROKEE BRICK AND TILE COMPANY SITES, BIBB COUNTY, GA

Project Description: From 1999 to 2000, ESI performed a historical
assessment, a Phase I archaeological survey, and Phase II site significance testing of a 1,226-acre tract for the Cherokee Brick and Tile Company of Macon, Georgia. Intensive testing of the property resulted in the recording of nine prehistoric archaeological sites, seven of which are considered eligible for listing in the National Register. Four of the eligible sites will be preserved in buffer zones, while data recovery has been performed at the other three.
