Since
the 1960s local, state, and federal agencies
have adopted regulations that take into
account the affect private and public development
will have on America’s known and unknown
historic properties. For the past 16 years,
ESI has been conducting all levels of archaeological
and historical research in compliance with
those regulations. ESI’s cultural resource
professionals include archaeologists, architectural
historians, and Geographic Information Systems
(GIS) analysts and predictive modeling specialists
with extensive experience throughout the
region. We have established positive working
relationships with local, state and federal
review agencies and possess a comprehensive
familiarity with applicable municipal, state
and federal regulations, including Section
106 of the National Historic Preservation
Act (NHPA), which is the main federal regulation
that governs the treatment of cultural resources.
Archaeology Services
Our
extensive regional experience, combined
with a strong commitment to customer service,
has resulted in over 1,200 successful projects.
Reports are prepared according to municipal,
state, and federal standards and depending
on permitting requirements, they are submitted
to the State Historic Preservation Office
(SHPO), the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers
(USACE), or other federal or county government
agencies for review. All sites are assessed
for significance in terms of eligibility
for listing in the National Register of
Historic Places (National Register).
