"Last Scoop" on The Miami River Dredging Project
A ceremony held Oct. 15 celebrated the ''last scoop'' of silt dredged from the Miami River, completing a five-year project to deepen and improve water quality of a major shipping channel. The event also highlighted the partnerships that made it happen: South Florida Congressional Delegation, the State of Florida, the Army Corps of Engineers, the City of Miami, Miami-Dade County.
The five-year project included the dredging of over
700,000 cubic yards of sediment.
