The Chairperson of the Remote Sensing Coordination Committee (RSCC) organizes and chairs regular meetings to help facilitate the exchange of remote sensing data and technologies within the Department. In addition, the Chairperson helps coordinate Departmental responses to various inquiries, assembles subcommittees to support intra- and inter-Departmental remote sensing activities, and represents the RSCC on assorted committees and working groups.
The USDA Remote Sensing Advisor is the senior authority on remote sensing data and technologies used by the Department. The Remote Sensing Advisor keeps the RSCC informed of current developments in the remote sensing community and provides scientific and technical advice to USDA agencies as they plan, develop, and implement their remote sensing activities. The Remote Sensing Advisor also serves as the Department's representative on various inter-departmental and inter-agency committees and study groups.
The Manager of the USDA Imagery Archive administers the Department's remote sensing data warehouse. This database, hosted by the Foreign Agricultural Service, has created a central location where staff from all agencies within USDA can obtain a wide range of archived remote sensing data.
