About East Texas Connect - etc

etc is your link to health services in East and Northeast Texas, a 39-county region including Dallas, McKinney, Shreveport, Tyler, Nacogdoches, Crockett, and Corsicana. The site was launched in 2006 by the Watson W. Wise Medical Research Library of the University of Texas Health Center at Tyler. It is now managed by the Texas A&M University Medical Sciences Library and the National Library of Medicine, part of the National Institutes of Health.

The site is a free online directory of a wide array of health care resources, defined as organizations, agencies, or groups that provide social, educational, health and human services. Included are: clinics, hospitals, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, public health agencies, support groups and much more.

The following counties are covered: Anderson, Bowie, Camp, Cass, Cherokee, Collin, Cooke, Dallas, Delta, Denton, Ellis, Fannin, Franklin, Freestone, Grayson, Gregg, Harrison, Henderson, Hopkins, Houston, Hunt, Kaufman, Lamar, Limestone, Marion, Morris, Nacogdoches, Navarro, Panola, Rains, Red River, Rockwall, Rusk, Shelby, Smith, Titus, Upshur, Van Zandt, and Wood.

etc works in conjunction with MedlinePlus, an authoritative consumer health web site from the National Library of Medicine. You can find reliable, up-to-date health information about diseases and conditions, then link to local health services in your community.

• They provide health services to residents of East Texas
• Information offered is freely available and contact information is current
• Credentials and qualifications are provided, if applicable

etc is growing as we continue to add information about regional providers and services. We welcome your suggestions; please link to the "Contact Us" form to suggest sites to add or provide feedback.
