KEY INITIATIVE:
A

Organizational Priority #1

Improve infrastructure and develop new services for intramural clinical research program to support growth in clinical activity.

Leader(s)

Collaborators

Institutes, Information Systems, IRB's

Description

The task of writing clinical research protocols is currently done manually by each Institute. The concept of Automated Protocol Writing would be to centralize the
process with IRB "approved" components of the protocols through the development
of "cassettes" of language/structure that PIs could access and put together to create
a protocol.

Accomplishments-to-Date

New initiative. Will track closely with the Computerization of Protocol Mapping.

FY2000 Goals

  • Assess feasibility of developing Automated Protocol Writing.
  • Determine structure, manpower, and equipment necessary to implement at the Clinical Center.
  • Detail implementation plan to create automation, including process for IRB approval of certain protocol components/cassettes.
