Internships
Congressman Snyder's internship program is designed primarily for the educational benefit of the participant. Interns will have the opportunity to learn about the role of Congress and its Members in the American political system and the operation of a Congressional office. Positions are available to qualified individuals during the summer months as well as other times of the year.
Some paid positions are available during the summer. Students wishing to receive academic credit may participate during the school year or the summer. Deadline for submitting summer internship applications is March 14, 2009.
Interns may work out a schedule to spend various amounts of time working in the District Office, located in the Prospect Building at 1501 North University in Little Rock, or in the Washington, D.C., office, located in the Rayburn House Office Building, Room 2210. Regular office hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday in the District Office and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the Washington Office.
In addition to these hours, events are often planned or occur on weekends and during the evenings. While weekends and evenings are not required, they are often very beneficial for the overall internship experience.
Qualifications for interns include:
- Ability to work independently
- Diligence in completing tasks
- Ability to communicate and work with others
- Prompt and punctual attendance
Interns perform a variety of tasks including:
