Historic Vessel
Preservation - Our working Boat Yard is in the business
of preserving traditional skills while saving traditional boats.
Through the preservation and maintenance of the world's largest
collection of traditional Bay boats; special major restoration projects
of CBMM vessels like the 1909 crab dredger Old Point and
the skipjack Rosie Parks; and through partnerships with Chesapeake
captains and boatbuilders, our Boat Yard has the opportunity to
restore the very vessels that have defined the aesthetic of Bay
boatbuilding. Find out more.
Chesapeake
People - Let the experts tell you how it's really done.
Our Chesapeake People program features skipjack captains and crew
members, boat builders, hunters and decoy carvers, dipnet makers,
crab pickers and oyster shuckers. This program is supported by
Maryland Humanities Council, Maryland Traditions, Maryland State
Arts Council, and Talbot County Arts Council. Find
